WHAT IS MIAMI CARNIVAL WEEKEND?

WHEN AND WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
Come to Miami over Columbus Day weekend to dress up in masquerade for the Miami Broward One Carnival, a bi-county event that attracts over 50,000 participants each year. The main event is held at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds, although other festivities can be found throughout the city. This exciting festival celebrates the culture, traditions and art heritages of the Caribbean. It’s fun for all ages with celebrations ranging from pageantry to musical performances by world-class entertainers.
Carnival Events
Once Carnival begins there are non-stop events including The Steelbands where bands compete for the title of “Panorama” champions playing steel pans and drums for the crowd. The Music Truck is another highly anticipated event of the Carnival weekend. Music trucks make their way to the main stage while blasting music from DJs and entertainers as masqueraders follow along on the street. Both The Steelbands and The Music Truck are judged with expert and celebrity judges who come from near and far to cast their vote and crown the titles.5
WHEN DO MOST PARTICIPANTS ARRIVE
Many of the activities take place from October 7-10, 2022. Most people arrive on Friday and leave that Monday morning (October 10, 2022). However, we suggest that you arrive on Thursday and leave Monday if possible. That way you can avoid some of the long crowds at the Miami airport and you can also check out more parties and events throughout the weekend.
WHAT HOTELS SHOULD I STAY IN FOR THE WEEKEND?
If you want to stay close to the venue, Miami will be the hot spot. Everything is within walking distance or a short cab ride from the venue. Of course, many people also enjoy the atmosphere in the South Beach area. If you decide to south beach, you can easily drive to the downtown area if you have access to a vehicle.(10-15 minute) You can choose to rent a car to travel throughout the city.
IS IT BETTER TO DRIVE OR FLY?
That is up to you. If you decide to fly, most people choose Miami to as their final destination. However, Ft Lauderdale is usually cheaper and is only 20-30 minutes away from Miami
