The Houston Bayou Classic is more than just a football game; with its colorful and glorified history, the Bayou Classic is a unique family fellowship that exists within a football game. The Houston Classic has become the greatest and most distinguishable sporting event in all of Black America.
The gridiron match-up between Grambling State University and Southern University, two great Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) rivals, represents the best that collegiate sports has to offer: teamwork, tradition, passion and fierce competition.
Each year, the Bayou Classic attracts more than 200,000 revelers to the City of Houston for the nationally televised game, the Battle of the Bands & Greek Show, the Super Job Fair and many other events surrounding the Bayou Classic weekend.
